Mbeya Regional Commissioner Hon. Amos Makalla has asked councilors to raise revenue collection so that they can run themselves independently from government subsidiaries.
Speaking at a councilor's meeting of Mbarali Hon. Makalla said the capacity of the Mbeya Regional Councils independently is approximately 6.6 to 23 percent, which shows that the operation of all councils depends on the central government.
Hon. Makalla has said that it is the responsibility of the Councils to raise revenue and improve revenue sources aimed at increasing the capacity of independent Councils to develop development projects that depend on local income
He said the increase in revenue collection should be consistent with the use of consumer spending, so the Councilors should monitor and ensure that all revenue collected from domestic sources is used in the targeted targets and development projects that are consistent with the value of the funds used.
He said that all sources of revenue ensure revenue collection by using the electronic system to increase collection speed and to prevent the loss of public funds.
In addition, Hon. Makalla congratulated the Mbarali Council for achieving Unqualified Opinion in 2015/2016 and said that some of the CAGs have been violated by law violations, regulations and procedures in managing public spending.
He said that the Internal Audit Nationalities should remain a permanent agenda for the Committee on Finance, Leadership and Planning to strengthen internal controls.
